Sultry, Affordable Valentines Day Look – Collaboration with the Giveaway Queen

It’s that time of the year again…..the time when people may be rushing around to find the best Valentines gift for their sweetheart and/or hating this days existence because it’s so hyped up and you have to shove so much romance into one day.

Well, my view on it is that it’s always nice to find another way to appreciate the person or people you love.  Yes, it may be over-saturated and there are people who wait all year to be the perfect significant other on just this one day…which frankly sucks…but I love Valentines Day.

So if you’re looking for the perfect look, whether it be more traditional sultry or colorful, you have come to the right place!  This post is a collaboration crossing beauty platforms!  I’m collaborating with the Giveaway Queen, or some of you may also know her as Naomi!  We are both doing a Valentines Day look so we got you covered.  This was so exciting because it is the first collaboration for both of us!

After looking through this, head on over to her video here.

Her look is going to be amazing!  Naomi’s beautiful!  And she’s got some especially beautiful brows and lips, and to top it off she’s super sweet, supportive, and funny.  You guys will love her 🙂

My look is more of a traditional sultry, bedroom eye.  I thought about adding lashes, but I thought, hey, if I was having a romantic date with my hubby, one of the last things I want to do is take the extra time to remove false lashes.

Close up..trying to do that whole “hey you over there” LOL

I used the NYX Butt Naked Eye Palette which contains 15 cool-tone eyeshadows, 4 blushes, 1 bronzer, and 2 highlighters.  This is a great option if you are wanting to get a lot for your money!  The palette costs $25 at UTLA.  I also use drugstore brow and lip products!  Keeping it affordable!

Urban Decay Smoked Palette Swatches

I recently got the UD Smoked palette when it went on sale at ULTA for $29…I mean really?!?  I’ve been planning on buying this for years, and the sudden sale and a 20% off coupon made it right around $23, which is a great value for all you get.

This isn’t a full review for the palette, so watch out for that in the future!  As of now, I can say I’m loving it!

I hope you all had a safe and fun New Year’s Eve celebration , whether it was out on the town or in your PJs watching some Netflix…like I was with the hubby LOL

Here are the Urban Decay Smoked palette swatches!  Enjoy!

Bare Escentuals Brushless Mascara Review

Oh mascara….I am forever in love with the hunt and testing of various mascaras promising new and different results based on the formula or brush…

So when I saw a video by Fleur DeForce raving about the Bare Escentuals Brushless Mascara, I added it to my wishlist.  I am not someone who just goes out and buys things without much thought and research into the quality and performance of whatever I may be buying.  After seeing her video, I started researching on MakeupAlley here and beauty blogs for reviews of this weird mascara.

Bare Escentuals Brushless Mascara

Well, the reviews were split…some raved to the heavens about it, while others said it was the worst money spent…and on and on it went.

At some point Bare Escentuals (which is also Bare Minerals and Buxom) had a buy one get one FREE deal on this mascara.  While I know there was no reason for me to need two, this deal essentially made the cost $7.50 instead of $15…much more doable…so I ordered it.

I spent so much time trying this out, and I eventually came to my conclusion.  I would NOT recommend this mascara.  While I think the formula seems decent (from what I could get out and use), I think the “innovative” wand or brushless brush is not usable.  As you can see from the pictures included, the applicator is a plastic wand with grooves in it, which are supposed to distribute the mascara along the lashes.

Bare Escentuals Brushless Mascara

Unfortunately, I could not get the mascara to come off on my eyelashes.  I tried the different tips and tricks given by those who have reviewed it on MUA and blogs….I blinked over the wand, I slid it up the lashes from root to tip, used the tip and grooves to at least get something on the lashes to further manipulate…but to no success.

Bare Escentuals Brushless Mascara

Recently, It Cosmetics has released a tightline mascara, which is supposed to distribute the black pigment to the upper waterline to avoid the separate step of lining the upper waterline…so when I saw that, I figured this could give me a way to use the BE Brushless Mascara….but no.  The formula wouldn’t even apply to my upper waterline or lash roots.  So now I have an open one, and a brand new, in box BE Brushless Mascara.  I don’t often feel like I have wasted money on beauty products because of all the research before purchase, but this definitely feels like a waste….

…at least it was half price, right?

This is available only on the Bare Escentuals website here.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Looks

Hey everyone!  I have been trying to compile some of the looks I have been doing with the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.  Even though I try to be creative and different with my makeup, I know that I still get to a point with a palette where I am repeating looks and just want to change it up but don’t really know how.  The internet search engines, YouTube, and Pinterest are all good resources to search for different looks pertaining to a specific palette.  These kinds of posts will probably be occasional since I like to switch up my makeup quite often, but they will definitely continue over time and with other palettes.

I got this back in April with a bunch of other stuff with my ULTA Rewards.  If you didn’t get a chance to see that haul, check out the ULTA Rewards Haul.  There’s a ton of great stuff!

Also, this type of post was inspired by the 4 Looks 1 Palette videos by  the wonderful Kristin Gehm.  She always has such wonderful videos!

Anyway, I hope you like the looks!

Holographic Lip Gloss?!

I was recently strolling around ULTA resisting the constant urge to purchase any and all makeup or beauty products that call my name when I stumbled upon a lip gloss by Bare Minerals.

Holy bologna this was beautiful!  Those who have known me for awhile know that lip gloss was one of my first steps into becoming a full blown makeup person J  So when I saw this lip gloss, I pretty much labeled it with my name.

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss Hypnotist Holographic Lip Gloss

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss Hypnotist

The lip gloss I’m talking about is Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie lip gloss in Hypnotist.  Can you say cool and beautiful?  After swatching it on my hand, I pretty much was hypnotized…if only you could ask my husband and friend as I kept staring at it on my hand through our walk through ULTA and a sporting goods store.

Also, I decided to snap quite a few pictures so you all could hopefully see the cool factor of this gloss.  It’s a holographic lilac peachy color.  There is not much pigment to it, but it does seem nice.  Hopefully I will pick it up sometime, but not for now….add yet another thing to the wishlist LOL.

I have heard about another holographic lip gloss from Jesse’s Girl called Glow Stix.  These would definitely be a cheaper alternative to the Bare Minerals version.

If you’re interested, the Bare Mineral Hypnotist lip gloss can be found at ULTA or the Bare Minerals site

The Jesse’s Girl Glow Stix can be found on their site.
