Influenster VoxBox Pantene

Oh man it has been AWHILE since I’ve received an Influenster VoxBox, so I was super excited when I opened the email notifying me I would be sent the Influenster Pantene VoxBox.

For those of you who are wondering what Influenster VoxBox is…Influenster is a company that partners with various brands and sends out boxes (for free) to members of their site for review.  You do not have to have a blog or YouTube channel to be selected for these either which is really nice.

Back to the current Influenster VoxBox I’ve received!  This is the Pantene VoxBox, which contained a shampoo, conditioner, and dry shampoo.  The shampoo and conditioner are both full-size, and the dry shampoo is a travel size.

Although I was excited to be selected for this Influenster VoxBox, I honestly was wary of the products I was going to be receiving.  I’m kind of picky about my shampoo and conditioner…okay you caught me….I picky about ALL of my beauty products….but I was disappointed the last time I bought Pantene products for myself.

The shampoo and conditioner are from the Full & Strong collection, both of which sound great to me!  I have naturally fine, dry, curly hair, so I need some fullness and strength.  I can say that these products left my hair feeling silky and somewhat fuller.

Also, I was very pleased with the scent.  I expected the shampoo and conditioner to have the typical Pantene scent, but was surprised to discover a more Skittles-like scent.  Love!  Using the Pantene Fully & Strong shampoo and conditioner has actually made me look forward to washing my hair….that’s not a regular feeling for me lol.

After using these products for about a month now, I can say I’m impressed.  I love the way my hair feels after using them, and I love the scent and consistency of the products.

Now on to the dry shampoo…..I honestly didn’t even want to try this.  I have previous purchased the full-size of this dry shampoo, and I was only able to use it once.  The dispenser had quit working after one use, meaning I had to throw out an ENTIRELY FULL can of dry shampoo…not happy.  Additionally, I didn’t like the dry shampoo after that one use because it seemed to make my hair MORE greasy…..weeellll….I actually like the travel-size of this dry shampoo.

I don’t know if I had previously bought a dud, but this one has worked well.  The scent is the typical Pantene scent…sorry I don’t know how to describe it…and I would suggest shaking it before each spray to your hair, not just each use.  I think this allows for better use of the product so you’re not just getting dry shampoo in the first spray and wet product with each spray after.  I would say this is a decent dry shampoo, but I personally enjoy powder dry shampoos more.

Overall, I am pleased with the Pantene Influenster VoxBox.  I enjoyed the products, some more than others, and would recommend the shampoo and conditioner.

Sultry, Affordable Valentines Day Look – Collaboration with the Giveaway Queen

It’s that time of the year again…..the time when people may be rushing around to find the best Valentines gift for their sweetheart and/or hating this days existence because it’s so hyped up and you have to shove so much romance into one day.

Well, my view on it is that it’s always nice to find another way to appreciate the person or people you love.  Yes, it may be over-saturated and there are people who wait all year to be the perfect significant other on just this one day…which frankly sucks…but I love Valentines Day.

So if you’re looking for the perfect look, whether it be more traditional sultry or colorful, you have come to the right place!  This post is a collaboration crossing beauty platforms!  I’m collaborating with the Giveaway Queen, or some of you may also know her as Naomi!  We are both doing a Valentines Day look so we got you covered.  This was so exciting because it is the first collaboration for both of us!

After looking through this, head on over to her video here.

Her look is going to be amazing!  Naomi’s beautiful!  And she’s got some especially beautiful brows and lips, and to top it off she’s super sweet, supportive, and funny.  You guys will love her :)

My look is more of a traditional sultry, bedroom eye.  I thought about adding lashes, but I thought, hey, if I was having a romantic date with my hubby, one of the last things I want to do is take the extra time to remove false lashes.

I used the NYX Butt Naked Eye Palette which contains 15 cool-tone eyeshadows, 4 blushes, 1 bronzer, and 2 highlighters.  This is a great option if you are wanting to get a lot for your money!  The palette costs $25 at UTLA.  I also use drugstore brow and lip products!  Keeping it affordable!

Recently, I’ve been doing a lot of self-reflection and making changes.  This had nothing to do with New Years because, frankly, I don’t make resolutions.  While this may not pertain directly to beauty products, reviews, etc., I still think there is beauty in life, deciding to switch careers, slowing down to pull yourself together, nurturing yourself and/or your family.  There are so many choices people make or feel are made for them…and it can be scary to step away from a path you had begun long ago.

I’m someone who loves to plan.  Spontaneous is not a word friends and family would use to describe me.  I’ve also had many people tell me I seem pulled together or sure of my path…and I use to think that too.  I had decided on a career path at a very young age, and it actually stuck.  I enjoyed learning and progressing through this field, and I still do, but with increasing experiences and time, I think it’s important to try to step out of our comfort zone at times and do something that nurtures our souls.

What makes you shine?  What do you get so passionate about that you can continue to talk about it long after peoples’ eyes glaze over? Lol

The things on my list have not changed much at all, but how I plan to fulfill these passions has.

This, the change in my path to fulfillment, is what’s scary.  What if I fail?  And if I fail, what will people think?  Will people see me as irresponsible for shifting my focus in life and career?

While I’m someone who can deal with dislike and judgment, that doesn’t mean I like to.  So…I’ve been working on myself a lot lately….what do I want from my life?  How am I going to change my path?  Will these be long-term changes or short-term to accomplish other, more pressing, needs at this point in my life?

I know this is a little all over the board, but this is some of what’s been on my mind lately….uncertainty…ambiguity..and I’m working on being okay with that.

Let me know what you think…what have been your experiences with big changes?

This is a quote I found on Google from SayingImages Inspiring Quotes & Pictures, which you can see here.

Long bob? Lob? Oh well…I got my haircut!

I did it!  I finally made a change in my hair!  I officially have a lob! LOL  That just makes me laugh! If you’ve had a drastic haircut or style change, you know how exhilarating it can be.

I’ve been growing my hair out for the past 8 years…I know…kind of ridiculous.  And as most long-haired ladies know, you get the occasional urge to chop it for a change….maybe you’re feeling bored or emotional (which is usually NOT the best time to chop your hair)….but you usually push the urge back down and maybe find a new hairstyle to quell it for a little while longer.

long bob

Before my lob! After A LOT of styling and effort which I quite honestly don’t like to make with hair…when I could spend that time on makeup! lol

Well, my hair was down to my lower back, and while it was awesome for all the different kinds of braids and updos…I started to realized over time how much I actually disliked my hair and how it looked, felt, styled….basically everything.

So I made a list of all the things I disliked about it, and started looking for haircuts that would take care of all of that, but it also needed to work well with curly hair.

I’m usually not a trendy person, but I’ve been really drawn to the long bob or lob.  I thought this hairstyle would allow for a lot of versatility but still be long enough and do well with my curly hair.

I went to my hairdresser yesterday armed with pictures and my list of hair woes….and she agreed, explaining  in detail how the cut would address each of the problems I was having with my hair….so….

I now have a lob!  Long bob!  And when it go to her styling after the cut, I asked her to style it like the picture I brought it, which was none other than the absolutely gorgeous and kind Cara from Maskcara.

Feelin’ glamorous my friends! Check out that sass!

Side note: I have been learning SO MUCH from her, whether it be lifestyle, inspiration, or makeup tips and tricks.  Definitely check her out!

Anyway! Let me know what your experiences have been with changing your haircut or style!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Review

The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream seemed to be at the forefront of the whole matte lip trend because this product was released back in 2012.  Of course NYX continued to add colors over time, so there’s basically a color for anyone!

nyx soft matte lip cream milan antwerp

I got the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp and Milan on sale at ULTA a couple years ago.  I chose these colors because I have naturally pigmented lips, and I wanted two colors that could still look natural.  I tend not to like very light shades for matte lip colors because I think it emphasizes any cracking or dryness, which I think makes the product look worse on the lips…but this is just my opinion.  I’ve seen some people wear the light matte colors and thought they can rock it lol.

Left to Right: Milan and Antwerp

I love the feel of applying the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream and the overall appearance.  The price on these is also much more budget-friendly than some other matte lip products at this time.  There is a slight vanilla scent, but it’s not so strong that you smell it when you open the top.  It’s more of a you-smell-it-to-figure-out-if-it-has-a-scent level of scent.

What I don’t like about these is the uneven application of the formula.  When it comes to wearing matte lip colors, I prefer to do a thin layer so the product doesn’t build up and cause cracking or that dry look on the lips….but I end up having to apply 2-3 layers of this, which just doesn’t look nice as time passes.

Important to note, these are not meant to be a long-wearing matte lip formula.  The NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream does transfer and come off pretty easily onto glasses, silverware, significant others, etc.  So if you are looking for a long-wearing matte lip, I suggest skipping these.

However, if you are just getting into the whole matte lip trend, this product would be good to try.  You can often get them on sale at ULTA or other places NYX products are sold.
